Bath Time is Getting Better!

Now that her umbilical cord is outta sight, bath time equals good times! Mallory loves the warm water rinsing over her and only starts the squeals when it's over. Dada and I are trying to get REAL fast at the bath time is over- get bundled into the towel routine and this night we succeeded! As her hoodie appropriately says, check out our Cutie!
Can you smell that sweet baby smell?

The Many Faces of Mallory!

Mallory is staying awake more and more now, so I will put her in my lap with my knees up and we'll spend some fun times talking and singing and taking pictures! Here are a few from the other morning:

She is surprised!

She yawns (which always makes mom yawn too)!

She smiles!

She gets a little sassy!

My Beebo Fell Off!

FYI- Beebo is the unofficial name given to a bellybutton by Roxy Miller (age 2)

The Day- Wednesday, October 12th
The Place- Our bed
The Event- Mallory's umbilical cord falls off
The Problem- Amidst my joy of seeing my baby's cute new beebo, I realize I have no clue when or where said umbilical cord has fallen off or is now residing.
The Aftermath- After extensively searching and taking apart my whole bed I finally found it stuck to a burp cloth (which was fortunate as I refused to touch it). Brian wanted to see it so I was able to gently place the burp cloth on our dresser and await his return home where after looking at it for 2 seconds it went properly into the trash!

Showing off my new and improved bellybutton!

Splish Splash

Drinking milk is a full contact sport in our house and usually by the end of the day Mallory has successfully gotten milk in her hair, her cute little neck wrinkles and anywhere else she has inadvertently hit herself! So nighttime equals bath time! We are getting better and more efficient with each bath thanks to the "What to Expect" book for making me realize that washing her hair first then just makes her cold the rest of the time. Why, when you have a baby, does simple logic seem to fly out the window?! Last night Dada even went solo and bathed Mallory all by his little ole self. Mama could not be present because she was surely doing something else very important like laying comatose on the couch! Mama did however wake up in time to snuggle with her sweet smelling baby! Here's Mallory lounging in her bath hammock!
So fresh and so clean clean!

Gesundheit!

The other day I was filming Mallory to try and catch one of her super cute smiles. Even though all the books say the smile is probably caused by gas, I like to pretend its cause she likes Brian and me sooooo much! In my attempt to capture the smirk I got a sneeze instead. Too cute not to share!

Sleepytime!

Our baby loves sleeping which makes her parents very happy! The place, the time and the people involved don't really matter. She just needs to be cozy and possibly rocked a little.

Week 2 Stats

We just got back from Mallory's 2 week check-up and she passed with flying colors! I'm not sure what failing looks like for a 2 week check-up but considering that at her 1 week appt she had dried poop on her foot (thanks to an awesome diaper change by me at 4:00 am) and the fact that we went through 3 diapers in less than 20 minutes, I consider 2 week check-up a success! Here are the growing girl's stats:

Height- 21 1/2 inches (90th percentile- thanks Brian for those genes!)

Weight- 7 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile- up 9 oz from last appt)

So, basically our baby lurves to eat! Thanks Katy for those genes!

We don't go back to the doctor until her 2 month check-up where the dreaded shots will begin. A poll question for everyone: How bad of a mother will I be if I make her father hold her during the shot ordeal? Will she remember that I was not there for her in her time of need and hold it against me when she is a teenager?

Here's our little ducky after her appt.
